Josh Lord

(b. Nov 1972, Mornington, Victoria, Australia)
Josh Lord is an established Australian visual artist whose career spans more than three decades, beginning in the early 1990s. A self-taught creator, Lord is recognised for his distinctive fusion of layered acrylic surfaces, large-scale compositions, and futuristic, tech-infused imagery. His work explores human presence and vulnerability amid the shifting interface between technology and contemporary life.
Lord has an extensive exhibition history, including solo presentations such as The Ancient Future at Compendium Gallery (2025). His paintings command strong gallery prices and are sought after by collectors, reflecting his enduring reputation and influence within the Australian art scene.
His international commissions include McDonald House Hong Kong (for Dr Daniel Yat Chiu Ng, Honorary Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong) and International House New York (commissioned by James Finger), where he created a large-scale mural in the late 1990s—early evidence of his global reach and professional credibility.
Beyond the gallery, Lord co-founded Luxury Item with Colin Hyett—a boutique fashion label merging streetwear with fine art sensibilities. Their limited-edition collections bring Lord’s visual language into wearable form, expanding his creative influence into design and contemporary fashion.
